Frequently Asked Questions

Here are all the questions you may have regarding your Conform'able purchases, or on the functioning of your foot.

Your foot has its own particular morphology (size, volume and shape). Foot types are commonly known as either high-arched, mid-arched or flat-arched, but there are an infinite number of combinations of size, volume and shape. Each foot leaves an absolutely unique footprint. Your feet are the base of your body and play an essential role in maintaining your balance and your wellbeing.

In figures, your foot is made up of 26 bones, 16 joints, 107 ligaments and 27 muscles. In other words, a quarter of our skeleton is in our two feet.

USE OF NANO BATTERIES

I have just purchased Nano batteries, what should I do?

Before using them for the first time, charge your batteries to the full. Nano batteries are charged up to 60% for storage. Then you can use them for 5 hours continuously.

I have just purchased Nano batteries, and one of the batteries is not working. What should I do?

The batteries are factory-charged to 60% of their capacity. The batteries may have remained turned on during transport and lost their charge. In this case, just recharge both your batteries before use.

I cannot insert the connector in my insole into the battery. What should I do?

The metal pins in the battery are perhaps not aligned (just one or all the pins), preventing you from inserting the insole connector for the first time. Above all, do not force it, as this can damage the battery. Use a small tool, preferably plastic, to realign one or all the pins.

How should I recharge my batteries?

Use the charger and plug provided in the pack corresponding to your mains supply. Plug the charger into the power outlet and then insert both the batteries into the male connectors. The charger indicator should light up in red. The indicator will turn green when the batteries are recharged (if you are not using the dry mode)

Can I connect just one battery to my charger?

Yes, the charging system can also be used for a single battery.

Should I place my batteries in ON mode while recharging?

Yes, but the batteries will recharge regardless of the mode (on or off). ON system must be activated if you are using the drying system at the same time. This will make the charging time a little longer.

How can I know that my batteries are recharged?

If you are not using the dry mode: As soon as the charger indicator turns green, your batteries are operational for 5 hours of heating. If you are using the dry mode, your batteries will be charged up to 95% after 6 hours.

What is the purpose of the 2 female connectors on the outside of the charger?

This is a unique function patented by SIDAS. Your insoles will heat up when you connect them to these ends while recharging. If you place your insoles in your shoes, both will become dry. You will need 10 hours to dry both insoles and shoes.

What is the charging time of my batteries?

Your batteries will be recharged after 4 hours if you are not using the dry mode. The batteries are in charging mode until the charger indicator turns green. If you are using the dry mode, the batteries will recharge fully in 6 or 7 hrs.

My charger is not working. What should I do?

Plug your charger into the power outlet. If the indicator lights up neither in green nor in red, it is indeed broken. In this case, return it to the shop with a proof of purchase, and you can exchange it.

What is the heating time of Nano batteries?

Nano batteries provide heating comfort for 5 hours continuously and uniformly.

What is the temperature of the insole with my Nano battery?

It all depends on the ambient temperature. The difference between the ambient temperature and the top of your insole is about 16°C. If it is 0°C in your shoes, the temperature on the surface of your insoles will be 16°C.

How should I fasten my batteries?

The metal fastening system on Nano batteries allows you to fasten them on a shoe strap not more than 55 mm thick. If you cannot fasten your batteries on the strap of your shoe, Conform’able offers Conform’able Velco straps . Your batteries should be fastened on the outside of your shoes; inside, you may bump into them during your activity; at the back, there may be impacts with chair lifts, which can damage your heating system.

Both my batteries do not have the same capacity. What should I do?

Yes, there may be a difference of 10% more or less time between the 2 batteries (this is due to a slight difference between 2 heating elements in the insole, but also between 2 lithium-ion batteries).

The time commitments are not met (5 hours for a Nano battery). What should I do?

If you have a discharge time of less than 4 hours, it is possible that the battery was not recharged correctly. Before asking for an exchange, repeat the recharge cycle:

- check that the male connector is fully inserted into the battery (if the connector is not inserted fully home, the battery will not recharge correctly)

- wait for the charger indicator light to turn green and retry the discharge cycle. If the problem persists, ask your shop for an exchange with a proof of purchase.

My battery indicator does not display anything: Is it broken? What should I do?

Your battery is perhaps discharged. To check, recharge the battery (battery on charger; charger on power outlet) – place your battery in ON mode. If the LED does not light up, the battery is indeed broken. In this case, return it to the shop with a proof of purchase to exchange your battery.

Can I carry out all outdoor activities with my Nano batteries?

Yes, all the year around. For outdoor activities, Sidas has created a different fastening system and an extension cable so that you can hook them to your pockets, belt or boots for example. These items are sold separately from the Nano set. Do not carry out activities that can cause impacts (slalom for example)

What is the warranty period of my battery?

If you are not registered on our website, the warranty is valid for one year. If you are registered, the warranty is for 2 years.

What does the warranty cover?

The warranty is valid for any abnormal operation caused by the battery (broken LED, heating or drying system not working, charger not working, fastening system broken, etc.). The warranty will not in any case cover scratches, impacts or an incorrect use or handling of the device. In all cases, you must produce the proof of purchase for troubleshooting or exchange.

I cannot feel any difference with or without battery. What should I do?

You can perform 2 tests to check whether the technology works:

- Turn on both the batteries for ½ hour – turn off one alone. Note the difference.

- Place both your insoles (one insole with a battery in ON mode and the other without battery) in your freezer. Take both of them out after 10 min – note the difference on the surface of the insole by touching it If you still do not observe any difference, go to your point of purchase with a proof of purchase for complete troubleshooting.

I cannot feel any heat in my feet. What should I do?

You will never feet heat in your feet. Nano batteries are designed to create a warm well-being in your shoes and keep the cold out. Turn on only one out of the two batteries, and you will feel the difference.

What is the service life of my battery?

A 20% loss of the heating duration can be observed after 500 cycles. What technology is used in my Nano batteries? These batteries use Lithium-ion technology – It is much more efficient and reliable than nickel-cadmium technology. The service life is also much longer.

Are Nano batteries water-tight?

Yes and no. Nano batteries are resistant to snow, powdery snow, slush, and water splashes. Under no circumstance should Nano batteries be immersed in water or be used for water activities like diving or sailing.

Can I use other insoles than those supplied with my Nano batteries?

Only insoles comprising a heating element using the Conform’able technology (Volcano H – Custom H – Snow+ H) are compatible with your Nano batteries.

I need to go to a country outside Europe (US / Switzerland / UK). Can I use my batteries?

YES. The charger with its interchangeable plugs allows you to use your batteries all over the world regardless of the voltage and plug used (caution: Australian plug available optionally)

Does my type of foot arch have consequences for my body ?

Excessive pronation is one of the commonest problems. This causes the foot to rotate towards the inside. It can be revealed by pronounced wear on the inside edge of the heel of your shoe. This poor positioning causes your heel bone, leg, shin bone and hip to turn inwards. This makes your pelvis tilt forward. The direct consequences of this are plantar fasciitis, pain in the heel, problems with your Achilles tendon, pain in the knee or bursitis in your hip.

Hypersupination occurs when the foot does not move inwards enough when walking or running. In this outward-rotating position, the foot is not able to absorb all the shocks, and this has several consequences. Periostitis, plantar fasciitis, a sprained ankle, a fractured heel and metatarsal pain are the different injuries linked to hypersupination.

Learn more about your feet:

What type of foot arch do I have ?

There are three types of foot arch. Depending on how much your foot arch curves, you either have flat feet (a shallow curve in your foot arch), hollow feet (a deep curve in your foot arch) or normal feet (a medium curve in your foot arch).

The footprint test or wet test is an easy way to find out what type of foot arch you have.

1. Fill a bowl with water and place a sheet of paper beside it. It is preferable to use dark-coloured paper.
2. Stand in the bowl of water and then step out of it and put your feet on the dry sheet of paper.
3. Then look at the footprints you have left on the paper.

If a print of practically all of the foot appears, with almost no curve on the inside where your foot arch is, then you have a shallow foot arch and your feet are flat.
However, if there is a big curve between the forefoot and heel, your foot arches are very deep.
If your footprint is between these two, your foot arches are medium.

Do I need insoles ?

Three-dimensional insoles provide comfort and an extremely good fit inside your shoes. Depending on the type of foot arch you have, insoles can adapt to your shape and feet, thereby considerably reducing the harmful consequences that poor positioning of your feet can have. Insoles are beneficial for orthotic wearers and foot pain sufferers.

However, you don't need to have poor foot position to feel the benefit of 3-dimensional insoles. They can prevent future poor positioning and different injuries. It is strongly recommended that you use 3-dimensional insoles if you suffer from aching feet, back ache, sore ankles, sore knees or aching in your hips or lumbar region.

Did you know ?

Four out of five people suffer from poor foot position

A number of research studies have shown that more than 75% of individuals suffer from poor foot position, resulting in abnormal tension in the fascias and soft tissues. If this tension is not prevented it adversely affects the tissue and can cause osteoarthritis and pain, and it can also affect your general posture.

pied galbé.jpg

Do insoles reduce the risk of injury ?

Insoles play a part in preventing and reducing some injuries. Studies have shown that the cushioning elements and foot supports present in preformed and personalised insoles may reduce excess pronation by 10% and may prevent certain stress injuries.
